We're back!!!

Buon giorno! We arrived safely in Italy on Sunday morning and aside from a bit of jet lag, we are all doing great! The journey went smoothly and Seren was on her best behavior, sleeping for most of the red-eye flight! We spent our first day in Pavia walking around town and found a large street fair selling the usual items…soppressetta, pane, amazing local cheeses and of course, underwear, salsa dancing lessons and home improvement tools. The street fair was set up along the Ticino river, which borders the south side of Pavia and is two blocks from our apartment. The picture is of ‘Ponte Coperto’/Covered Bridge, which straddles the river and was rebuilt in the 50's after being destroyed in WWII .

Walking around town, we were able to get a better sense of the layout of the city and couldn’t believe some of the architecture here. There are beautiful old churches, sculptures and piazzas around every corner. Even some of the old apartment buildings, with their exposed brick and mortar, seem to hold so much history and beauty. The streets here are narrow, cobblestone and filled with little shops and cafes. I can’t imagine driving here….these Italian drivers could give our New York cabbies a run for their money!

After stocking up on some necessities, we headed back to the apartment, put the little one to sleep and Steve and I finished off our first day with big bowls of pasta and full glasses of wine. Steve started his first day at work today and Seren & I will be exploring more of the city, getting by on my poor Italian, and continue battling the jet lag for one more day! Buon giornata! Have a good day!

A well behaved baby on the red-eye. I would say you are off to a fabulous start. Steve, I hope you do very well and can come back here in a month and teach all the American doctors how to perform surgery while still dipping your bread in bolgnese sauce.

Hey Guys,
So glad to hear that your trip with Madam Seren went peacefully and you are getting settled in. The town sound amazing, we wish we could be there walking around the streets with you guys...And drinking the wine. Just a quick line from Mr. Nayan to his first (although not only) girlfriend.... long distance does work. Take care, be safe, enjoy!
